2014 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/19/2014 | WA9STI

Working SKN reminds me of the fun I had operating as a thirteen year old Novice with my callsign WN9STI in 1966 from the southside of Chicago.  While I no longer have my original rigs, the Healthkit DX-60 and Hammerlund HQ-105TR, I was hoping to put on the air my Ten-Tec Argonaut 505 and the 405 linear that I used in the 1970's.  I took the Ten-Tecs down from the attic but could not get the 505 to work properly.  So I used my other "old" rig, a 1987 Yaesu FT-767GX with a Nye straight key and had eight QSOs in as many states.  I will be going to Dayton this year so will be on the lookout for some vintage gear to use for SKN in 2015.
