One of the things I have the most fun doing in Amateur Radio is over coming the challenge of operating out in the field. By that measure the ARRL January VHF Contest was the most fun I have had in a very long time. I took part as the second operator on the N2SLN rover team roving in up state New York and northern Pennsylvanian. High winds, unploughed roads, snow drifts and lots of air time.
