Finally put up an inverted L that I have wanted to do for a couple of years now. Got it up the weekend of CQWWCW, which gave me a chance to get it tuned in for the 160 contest. Signals, in general, were better than on the DX-LB short dipole at 35 feet.... Read More

This year I operated portable from a rural location in the East Bay hills above Fremont about 25 minutes from my home in Sunnyvale. I was running QRP and managed 341 QSOs, 65 multipliers, and 45 states. High point of the contest was working the Gala... Read More

In 31 years of hamming this was my first try at 160M contesting. Using a low 80M dipole fed with windowline and 100W I had a blast! DX for me was VE3PN in ON. City noise level was S-9 till the last hour I operated then dropped to S-3, guess my neighbor... Read More

Band was quite crowded. Used my FT-757, antenna I hastily fed my 100ft twin lead fed dipole as a top loaded 15 foot high vertical. Cut the power down to 40 watts to avoid rf feedback. Not the best, not the average, but did manage 13 qso's in 8 state... Read More

Conditions were great here this year, & I had my usual annual "fix" of Topband doings!
It's almost inconceivable that I've been at this thing now, off & on, since (I believe) 1974-75: back then I ran a Johson Ranger-1 transmitter & a Hallicrafters S-7... Read More
