Have an Item of Interest for Publication?
By Joel Kleinman, Editor QST
If so, we’d love to hear from you. Send it along, preferably with a good photo or two (include captions and photo credits), and we’ll be glad to have a look.
What are we looking for, exactly? In short, anything related to ham radio that will be of interest to ARRL members — an individual or a group that’s accomplished something out of the ordinary, a “how we did it” tutorial or a profile of a notable ham, for example.
How might we make use of your item? If it’s an article, we will consider it for publication in QST or on our Web site. Publication on the Web has a few advantages: It will more than likely appear sooner, and it will be available on our site for the foreseeable future. Although page space in QST is very limited, your item could also be accepted as a feature article.
If you have a short write-up and a photo or two, it could also be something we’d want for our Web site. If it’s accepted for QST, it could see the light of day as an item in the “This Just In” column, the “Up Front in QST” column or as a Strays item.
If your item is not accepted for publication, don’t be discouraged — try us again the next time you have something you feel we might want to share with the Amateur Radio community.
A note about photos: If they are to be published in QST, digital photos must be high-res; that is, 300 dpi when the image is sized at 4 by 5 inches or larger. We are able to use low-res images for Web items, however.
