ARRL EXPO – Welcome!
ARRL, the national association for Amateur Radio, welcomes members and friends to Dayton Hamvention®. Use this handy guide to find ARRL-sponsored activities and exhibits. ARRL EXPO is a large exhibit area located in the Ballarena Hall (near the 400-numbered booths). This is a showcase of ARRL exhibits, activities and program representatives—celebrating the very best of Amateur Radio.
“Global Friendship” – Hamvention’s 2011 Theme
International goodwill is a fundamental principle of the Amateur Radio Service. This year, ARRL extends a very special welcome to representatives from national Amateur Radio societies attending Dayton Hamvention. The following booths will be located within the ARRL EXPO exhibit area.
- Deutscher Amateur Radio Club (DARC) – Germany
- Japan Amateur Radio League (JARL)
- Qatar Amateur Radio Society (QARS)
- Radio Association of China (RAC) / Chinese Radio Amateur Club (CRSA)
- Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) – United Kingdom
The International Amateur Radio Union – National radio societies throughout the world work together for the good of Amateur Radio through their global federation, the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU). Meet IARU officials including President Tim Ellam, VE6SH, and Secretary Rod Stafford, W6ROD.
NEW! QSL Card Wall – Bring your personal QSL card to Dayton, and post in on ARRL’s big QSL card wall. Help us cover the wall with QSLs from around the world! The wall will be located near the ARRL Logbook of the World booth.
Special Guest: Douglas H. Wheelock (Colonel, USA), KF5BOC – NASA Astronaut
Colonel Doug Wheelock, KF5BOC, launched on a Russian Soyuz spacecraft on June 15, 2010, and served a 6-month tour of duty aboard the International Space Station (ISS). On September 22, 2010, he assumed command of the ISS and the Expedition 25 crew. Together, the crew conducted more than 120 microgravity experiments in human research; biology and biotechnology; physical and materials sciences; technology development; and Earth and space sciences. While living and working in space, Doug operated the station’s Amateur Radio equipment—making radio contact with schools and the general ham radio community. Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) is supported by national Amateur Radio organizations including ARRL and AMSAT, and by NASA and the Energia (Russia). You can meet and greet Doug in the ARRL and AMSAT exhibit areas (times and locations will be posted). Doug has also been confirmed as a Hamvention forum speaker. Sponsored by ARRL and AMSAT
