American Red Cross Month Special Event Station
SPECIAL EVENT
03/11/2011Purpose: Celebrate American Red Cross month, promote the American Red Cross and the Disaster Services Technology group. The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. Disaster Services Technology provides technical solutions and services to Disaster Relief Operations and supports the operational readiness of the American Red Cross National Headquarters Disaster Operations Center (DOC). This is accomplished by providing technical guidance and support within our core competencies and functional areas of: Communications (wired and wireless), Network Operations, Computer Operations and Customer Services. Special event hours of operations are 17-2300 both days.
