Special Service Club Spotlight

Framingham Amateur Radio Association

ARRL Affiliated Clubs · Special Service Club Spotlight

Founded in 1933, FARA is still going strong, with over 100 members. Our membership includes several all-ham families. We are located about 20 miles west of Boston. Our activities include several contests, including Field Day (under our call sign, W1FY).

We assist with public service events such as the Boston Marathon and Framingham Flag Day activities. Our members also support ARES operations during blizzards, hurricanes, and more. Additionally, we hold 2 flea markets each year, "license in a weekend" classes, and several exam sessions yearly, and we sponsor 2-meter repeaters at 145.27 and 147.15 MHz. We hold monthly meetings, but our club shack is open on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings for anyone to use.

We can be contacted at fara@fara.org
