FCC License Renewals and ARRL License Expiration Notices

    FCC License Renewals

Amateur applications can be filed manually using paper forms or electronically over the Internet. Amateurs may electronically renew their FCC-issued licenses "on line" via the FCC web using FCC ULS . FCC permits on-line renewals at 90 days or less before a license will expire, and when the license has expired but is still within the two-year grace period for renewal. Licenses that have been expired for more than two years are not eligible for renewal or reinstatement. If you have a Vanity License renewal, remember to have your credit card accessible to pay the FCC Regulatory Fee.

Amateurs may also renew their licenses within 90 days before the license expiration date, or within the two-year license grace period after expiration, by using FCC Form 605 by mail to: FCC, 1270 Fairfield Rd, Gettysburg PA 17325-7245. Vanity Renewals will also need to submit FCC Payment Form 159 and the required FCC Regulatory Fee, along with the FCC Form 605. After completing both forms, you can mail your FCC Form 605, FCC Form 159 and your payment to: FCC, Wireless Bureau Applications, PO Box 358130, Pittsburgh, PA 15251-5130. Licenses that have been expired for more than two years are not eligible for renewal or reinstatement.

For a complete list of FCC filing instructions and filing fees go to the ARRL page Instructions for License Renewals or Changes.

NOTE: Other than for Vanity license applications, all FCC license application actions are FREE.

    ARRL Member License Expiration Notices

As one of the many benefits we offer ARRL Members, ARRL members will automatically receive a License Expiration Notice Form from ARRL. This notice has instructions on amateur license renewal and is sent once the license is just outside the 90-day window for renewal. This will be a letter with a form at the bottom of the letter to sign and return to the ARRL VEC. Amateurs can renew no sooner than 90 days before the expiration of the license. NON-Vanity renewal procedures are a free membership service. Vanity renewals require a Fee (FCC Regulatory Fee and a $5 ARRL processing fee).

For a complete list of member filing instructions and filing fees go to the ARRL Member Instructions For License Renewals or Changes page.

Club / Military Recreation License Renewals

The FCC has privatized the club call sign assignment program. Any club or military-recreation license must go through a Club Station Call Sign Administrator (CSCSA) of which the ARRL VEC is one. The FCC no longer accepts applications directly from clubs, unless the club is requesting a Vanity Call Sign or renewing a Vanity Call Sign.

Clubs that hold Vanity Call Signs may electronically renew their FCC-issued licenses "on line" via the FCC web using FCC ULS. Remember to have your credit card accessible to pay the FCC Regulatory Fee. For a complete list of FCC filing instructions and filing fees go to the ARRL page Instructions for License Renewals or Changes.

NCVEC Form 605-C or NCVEC Form 605 can be used to renew a NON-Vanity Club License or to renew a Military Recreation Station License. Vanity Club License renewals may also use either form, but must submit the FCC Regulatory Fee and ARRL $5 processing Fee with the form (the check should be made payable to ARRL VEC). ARRL cannot process requests for NEW vanity call sign. They must be done directly with FCC. RACES station licenses cannot be renewed. For Club License filing instructions and filing fees see Club Station Application and Filing Procedures.
