VE-LIST Updates (subscribe, un-subscribe, or to make changes)

The ARRL VE-LIST is a one-way list which supplies news and information of interest to Volunteer Examiners in the Amateur Radio Service. Any person with interest in the VE or VEC system is welcome to sign on to this list. The ARRL VE Newsletter and other VEC related information will be posted to this list periodically.

As of late 2002 we are using LYRIS list server software, which means the subscribe and unsubscribe syntax is different from what ARRL VEs saw  in their 8th Edition ARRL VE Manual. The NEW 9th Edition of the ARRL VE Manual (released in February 2008) contains the correct instructions.  The LYRIS server procedures are:

    To Subscribe:

    1. Create an email addressed to velistjoin@arrl.org.
    2. In the subject line, enter ‘subscribe-ve-list’ (with no quotes). Leave the body of the message blank.
    3. You will receive an email with a subject line of ‘Your confirmation is needed’. In the body of that email, click on the second link that begins with ‘lyris-confirm-…’  (ignore the first link).  This will create a reply email and you will need to put the word ‘subscribe’ in the subject line of that email. Send it back.
    4. Once you have sent the confirmation email, the administrator of the reflector must give approval before you may actively participate in the list. You will receive an automated reply to that effect.
    5. After you have been approved, you will receive another automated message telling you that you have been added to the list.

If this process does not work, just email the same information to vec@arrl.org.

    To Unsubscribe:

    1. Create an email addressed to velistjoin@arrl.org.
    2. In the subject line, enter ‘unsubscribe-ve-list’ (with no quotes). Leave the body of the message blank.
    3. You will receive an email with a subject line of ‘Your confirmation is needed’. In the body of that email, click on the second link that begins with ‘lyris-confirm-…’  (ignore the first link).  This will create a reply email and you will need to put the word ‘unsubscribe’ in the subject line of that email. Send it back.

If this process does not work, just email the same information to vec@arrl.org.

    To Change an email address:

To Change your email address in the VE-LIST or any of your communication preferences, please provide the full email address for any and all addresses that need to be changed, added or removed to vec@arrl.org.

    Additional Information:

Questions or comments regarding this list can be directed to  vec@arrl.org  or by calling the ARRL VEC at 860-594-0300 weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm Eastern time.

To view the current VE Newsletter or to view previous editions visit the "ARRL VEC News Briefs, Announcements, Newsletters" web page at  www.arrl.org/arrlvec/announcements.html.

If you are interested in also participating in a two-way list, consider joining the USVE list.  This site, provided by Joe Wonoski, N1KHB, is a place for ham radio Volunteer Examiners to gather and exchange ideas. The intro page is  www.egroups.com/group/usve
