Scout Quest 100
In a prelude to the 2010 National Scout Jamboree, the Greater Saint Louis Area Council and the Lewis & Clark Council hosted ScoutQuest 100 celebrating the 100th anniversary of scouting. The decennial event, held once every ten years in St. Louis’ Forest Park, brings together over 25,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers guest and alumini for the second largest gathering of scouts in North America. This year’s event, http://www.scoutquest100.org/home, held June 4-6, 2010 held even more significance as it celebrated the 100th anniversary of scouting.
As in previous decades, K2BSA/Ø brought amateur radio to the event giving scouts an opportunity get on the air and hams across the country a chance to work a very special event station. Members of the St. Louis Amateur Radio Club, KØLIR, working together with public safety officials teamed up to give scouts the hands-on access to the latest computer and communications technology. Together these volunteers became an integral part of the jamboree’s broad range of programming under the Quest for Technology section.
