Q1: What resources are available for license instruction? Visit www.arrl.org/resources-for-license-instruction for a list of ARRL resources as well as links to free shared instructional resources developed by others in the Amateur Radio community. In this section of the website and it's related pages you’ll find resources about preparing to teach, getting new licensees on the air, past newsletters with tips and shared information, and certificates and hand-outs for your students as well as resources developed for each level of license instruction by others in the ham radio community.

Q2: What resources are available from ARRL for license instruction? You'll find a current list of ARRL study manuals, instructor materials and other resources at www.arrl.org/instruction-arrl-resources.

Be sure to check out the online supplement provided for each of ARRL's student study manuals at the links listed below. 

The online supplement for each manual includes a study guide that presents question pool questions in the order the related content is presented in ARRL study manuals. You'll also find supplemental information related to content areas addressed in the study manual, as well as a list of updates and corrections that we've identified since the manual's publication.

ARRL Exam Review for Ham Radio, is a web based application that provides students with exam practice and chapter by chapter review capability, accessible through most browsers and mobile devices. It also provides the capability to print practice exams. Check it out at www.arrl.org/examreview.

ARRL's Instructor's Manual for Technician and General License Instruction, includes lesson plans and Power Points that follow the presentation of topics in ARRL's student study manuals. You'll find links to download lesson plans and related Power Points at www.arrl.org/instruction-arrl-resources.


Q3: Does ARRL offer an instructors manual for Extra exam preparation? We do not offer an instructor manual for Amateur Extra class instruction.  Check our Instructor Resource page at www.arrl.org/instruction-teaching-and-study-aids for shared resources that may aid in your instruction.  

Q4: What materials can I purchase through the Instructor Discount Program? ARRL materials commonly used for licensing instruction are included in this program. For the detailed list and instructor price go to: www.arrl.org/instructor-discount-program. YOu can place you order anytime online by logging into the ARRL website with your registered username and password or you may call our toll-free publications line to place an order (888-277-5289, Mon-Fri, 8am - 5pm EST). When calling in your order, please indicate to the representative that you are an Instructor. Your Instructor discount and free shipping will only be applied towards the designated publications in the Instructor Discount Program. 

Q5: Does ARRL offer printed brochures and exhibit materials to promote Amateur Radio and recruit new hams? Brochures and exhibit materials for promoting amateur radio at fairs, meetings, conventions, hamfests, Field Day and other special events are available for purchase here: www.arrl.org/shop/Brochures-Handouts-and-Exhibit-Supplies/. While certain brochures or pamphlets are free in limited quantites, there is a flat-rate shipping fee of $7.50 per order applied towards the ordering of these materials. 

Q6: What materials are available to instruct the Radio Merit Badge with Scouts? You’ll find resources shared by other radio amateurs involved in Boy Scout leadership at www.arrl.org/amateur-radio-and-scouting. This is also where you’ll find information about JOTA and other scouting events.  

Q7: What materials are available to introduce Girl Scouts to Amateur Radio? ARRL offers a Radio & Wireless Technology Patch program for Girl Scouts. You can download the curriculum at www.arrl.org/girl-scouts-radio-patch.

Q8: How can I get a certificate or badge acknowledging my role as an ARRL Registered Instructor?  You may download and print a certificate at: www.arrl.org/instructor-certificate.  You'll find information about purchaseing a badge at: www.arrl.org/official-arrl-badge-program.  Patches, pins and shirts can be purchased from the ARRL store.
