Locator Database Errors

Location Services · Back to Locator page

In any large database such as the one used here to find the latitude and longitude of a city, there is the chance that errors will creep into the data. In this case, the data we use comes from the USGS GNIS database. Clearly, we (ARRL) haven't checked--and can't check--the USGS data. So it's possible there are errors in the data.

We do not plan to manually update the database, as we just don't have the staff resources to do so. We'll update from the USGS data as newer data becomes available, but that's the best we can do. So, if the system can't find your city or if it reports the wrong county or location, we're sorry, but we can't fix it.

We are interested to hear if the system reports the wrong grid square even though the location is correct, or the wrong ARRL Division or Section. If this happens, please report it to webmaster@arrl.org.
