Mary M. Hobart, K1MMH, is Chief Development Officer of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the national association for Amateur Radio. Hobart is responsible for all fund raising activities on behalf of ARRL including Spectrum Defense, Education and Technology, W1AW and Historic Preservation. She also manages ARRL’s Diamond Club for annual giving, the ARRL Maxim Society for lifetime giving and estate planning, and solicits grants to support League emergency communications and educational activities. Hobart also serves as the Secretary of the ARRL Foundation and in that role manages the processing of contributions, Amateur Radio grants and the annual scholarship program.

Her interests in Amateur Radio include emergency communications, education, kit building, DX and contests. 

Prior to joining the ARRL staff in 2001 as the organization’s first development officer, Hobart was the Vice President for Development at Connecticut Public Broadcasting in Hartford, Connecticut. She’s also worked in development for public broadcasting stations in North Carolina, Philadelphia and New Jersey.

Hobart holds a BA degree in History from Northwestern University, and pursued post-graduate studies in education and marketing at LaSalle University. She has two sons, Robert and Michael Markey, and two granddaughters.

Outside of ham radio, Hobart enjoys rowing, gardening, and University of Connecticut women’s basketball.
