In Contest Corral [Jul 2007, p 93] the IARU HF World Championship is incorrectly listed as being held July 7-8. The actual dates are July 14-15.
The resonance probe article listed on the front cover of the July 2007 issue does not appear in that issue. The article will appear in an upcoming issue.
Clarification: In the Product Review of the Ten-Tec Omni VII transceiver [Jul 2007, pp 58-64] we noted that the radio did not provide squelch for FM operation. We have since learned from Ten-Tec that squelch is available, although it didn’t appear in their manual. The following, from Ten-Tec, can be appended to the Omni VII manual:
Squelch is available via pressing the MULTI knob multiple times. It can be used in all modes. Use the MULTI knob to adjusting the SQUELCH setting to quiet the receiver based upon the strength of the signal received. A low setting of SQUELCH permits weaker signals to be heard on the speaker, and a higher setting of SQUELCH requires strong and stronger received signals before they are heard at the speaker. A setting of 0 permits all received audio to be heard at all times, and a setting of 100% will block all received audio from being heard at the speaker.
