2011 FIELD DAY REPORT FROM THE W8MOP EAST RIVER AMATEUR RADIO CLUB, BLUEFIELD WV. didahdah dahdahdahdidit dahdah dahdahdah didahdahdit    dahdididahdit    dididahdit dahdidit

The ARRL'S Field Day 2011 for the East River ARC, Bluefield, WV was held at Boy Scout Camp Roland in Bastian, Va. on Saturday/Sunday, June 25-26. We started to set up around 11am or so and had the following antennas and rigs on the air:
1.  75 and 6 meters SSB; Bill Sowers K8WBS, et. al., with his mobile rig and antenna.
2.  15 meters SSB; N8GK Gary Kadar's rig with his homemade 3-element beam; the "Mini Horse Antenna". The construction article is in the March 2010 QST magazine article on page 37 by SMØDTK from Sweden.
3.  20 meters SSB; ERARC's Yaesu FT-100 with ERARC's tribander on ERARC’s (thanks to Ben Mill's N8XXA) tower trailer operated by Roger Stefancic, KC8LGR and others.
4. Digital modes; Dave Bailey N8DMB's rig, computer and his dipole. Steve O'Dell N8SNR helped with this endeavor.
5.  40 meters SSB; Harold Hodges N8NCP alinco dx-70, homemade 40M dipole and mfj tuner.
6.  40 meters CW; Randall Hash WB4BBF's rig and computer and ERARC's 40 meter dipole. Randall used his solar powered battery bank and operated all but 6 contacts via QRP, 5 watts or less.
Lonnie Underwood KI4EED manned the information/sign-in table.   Generators: The Club's power unit, one each from Gary Kadar and Randall Hash and the 911’s generator. The Mercer County 911 Center allowed us to use their Communications Trailer as well as their 15,000KW diesel generator. This was the first time that their equipment had been used and all worked very well.
We were fortunate to have the use of Gary Kadar's pneumatic 'spud-gun' to string the dipoles as well as having the tower trailer. We were blessed to have help from Club members in the setup for the event. At 6pm, we had a pot-luck dinner at the large shelter with about 26 people in attendance. "A good time was had by all."
We contacted all of the states but 11 of them: AK, DE, HI, ID, MT, NE, NV, NM, OR, WA and WY. We also contacted the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
We were completely shut down and dismantled by noon-thirty on Sunday. All of the Club's equipment was taken to the Mercer Co. 911 Center for storage.
