My first one in a couple of years, and made only one contact (but that is a start). When I turned on my Pro-III on 40 meters all I saw was wall to wall blips; thought it was a contest week end. I tried giving a couple of calls but got no response. 40... Read More

Wow, I had a blast on SKN! I haven't worked SKN much in the past few years, but the activity level this year was amazing.
I used a Heathkit HW-16 (modified by W5NYT with a second IF, 80-10M coverage, and amplifier relay among others) and a Speed-X s... Read More -

Spent first couple hours on 40 meters. QSOs and callers were wall-to-wall with fierce QRM, reminiscent of the novice band days of the 1970s when first licensed, with an almost eerie Twilight_Zone feel. Even with modern equipment DSP and narrow filter... Read More

As always I tried to be in the SKN every year. This year I made 46 contacts using my US Navy CMI 26003A flameproof key. My vote for best fist is for Dave W4KD - 91 years old OT using a Bunnell Hand Key.

Had a great time! More participation than I can ever remember in previous SKNs. Could it be that dropping the code requirement will actually increase interest in "original Digital"? Only time will tell, hi!
Seconding NI9Y's comments, 80M certainly mo... Read More -

SKN - 2007 was the best one yet. It seems to become more popular and active each year. I think alot of this can be attributed to the growing ranks of SKCC and FISTS. They are doing a great job of promoting the joys and traditions of CW despite the rece... Read More

My first SKN was 1993 as N7YQB. SKN 2007 0000 UTC started strong but within hours signals went wrong. I did enjoy 11 contacts, the most memorable was W0DR0, Del de Del Rio, TX. As the night was to be dedicated to straight keys I made a picture of my ... Read More
