What happened to our "Contest Es"? Well as far as that is concerned, what happen to the tropo? 33 degrees Saturday morning didn't help I'm sure.

Work commitments on Saturday kept me from fully competing in this years contest.

I then turned my efforts to take advantage of the low noise and work 2M WSJT JT65B EME (moon-bounce) exclusively. Our moonrise was at 0345UTC (2045PST) on Saturday night ... Read More

Our group, the Michigan City (IN) Amateur Radio Club had the opportunity to install beams for 2 and 432, and a loop for six meters atop a 200 foot tall building for this year's contest. Despite the nice elevation, conditions were flat here in the midw... Read More

  • This is a shot of two of the antennas at my portable setup: the three-element Six Meter Yagi and the three-element Two Meter Yagi that I used for 144 and 432 MHz.

I operated in the QRP portable category again for this contest from a hill on Long Island, Grid FN30. This was a decent contest for September, although Six Meters suffered with poor conditions overall. No Sporadic-E was observed here at all, so there... Read More

  • The top antenna on my tower is a Cushcraft A449-11S for 70cm.
The next one is a Cushcraft 148-10S I used for the contest but is in need or serious re-tuning to get down in the lower portion of 2 meters.
The bottom is a Cushcraft A50-5S for 6 meters, and when I get the 2 meter beam re-tuned I shouldn't have to climb the tower for a few more years, I hope.

I tried to basically get on the air for the June VHF QSO Party, and found that I was limited to 6 meters through the transverter and I didn't have enough drive power to excite the amplifier. I also found that my 2 meter transverter was not operational ... Read More
